Disposable surgical gowns are essential garments worn by surgeons and medical staff during operations. These gowns are designed to protect both patients and healthcare workers from the transfer of microorganisms, body fluids, and particulate matter during surgical procedures. A surgical gown is regulated as a Class II medical device. It is intended to be worn by healthcare personnel during surgical procedures to provide a barrier against microorganisms and body fluids.

Critical Zones: For surgical gowns, critical zones include the front of the body (shoulders to knees) and arms (wrist to above the elbow). Surgical isolation gowns are used for medium to high-risk contamination, requiring larger critical zones. In isolation gowns, all areas except bindings, cuffs, and hems are considered critical zones.
